Actor Prem Nath sings for Shri Nathji


Famous cine actor Prem Nath visited Shri Nathji at His residence, Savitri Niwas at Mussoorie. He was so stuck with the divine beauty of Shri Nathji that he said “No actor in the world can compare with your beauty. If you would have been in films the entire world would have flocked to see your astonishing beauty. How I wish I can make a film on your life. Please send me a script so that I can make such a film. Shri Nathji never found time to send such a script. That day, Prem Nath had sung a tribute to Lord Shankar in the dining room of Savitri Niwas, playing upon Mateshwari’s harmonium.
Premnath Malhotra (21 November 1926 – 3 November 1992) was born in Peshawar in a Punjabi Khatri family. His family moved to Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh after partition, he then had moved to Bombay. Prem Nath, whose sister Krishna was married to the actor-director Raj Kapoor. Premnath made his film debut in Ajit (1948), opposite Monica Desai, and was one of the first colour films. He got major roles in Raj Kapoor's first directorial film Aag and Barsaat (1949) which was his first major success. Premnath went on to appear in many films for the next three decades, some of which were the biggest blockbusters in Indian film history.
He fell in love with actress Bina Rai during the filming of Aurat. A popular photographer’s shop in Mussoorie, Doon Studios at the Majectic Theatre, always kept a glass slide of Mateshwari and Shri Nathji, in his showcase. Along was a portrait of Prem Nath and his actress wife Bina Rai.
