At the Word Prayer Day on 23rd
of June 1993 at FICC Hall The Ambassador of Israel, Mr. Ephrain Doweck, was
amongst the dignitaries present in the Auditorium. (He can be seen highlighted, in the above photo taken at that time.) Israel and India had opened
a new chapter of friendly relations. It was only after Shri Nathji’s crusade
for World Peace that Peace finally came between Israel and the Arab states in an
unprecedented way. President Herzog of Israel had always very respectfully
acknowledged Shri Nathji’s Messages for the World Prayer Days in the years gone
by. The appearance of the Israeli Ambassador was a fruit of this past association.
Even though the Israeli
Ambassador could not understand a word of Hindustani, in which Priya Nath
spoke, yet he said later to Priya Nath over the telephone: “Your eyes explained
every word of what you were saying. The words touched the core of my heart…”
Even as Priya Nath spoke on
the stage at FICC Hall on the 23rd of June 1993, it was as if he had been
seized by a Divine Current, and everyone in the Hall felt the presence of Shri
Nathji. He can be seen in the photograph distribution prizes to students of a school in Dehradun.
Ephraim Dowek is one of the
greatest Israeli diplomat of recent times. He was the Israeli Ambaador to
Egypt. It was only during his tenure that noticeable improvements were made in
relations between Egypt and Isreal. Ephraim
Dowek, was also the author of the informative book "Israeli-Egyptian
Relations: 1980-2000”. This book was published by Routledge in 2001. He was chosen
by the ex Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin to be the Israeli ambassador to
India, in 1992, when he wanted to spearhead the relation between India and Israel
to a great level. Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin, was very enthusiastic, active in
promoting stronger India – Israeli ties. Infect actual diplomatic relations
between the two countries have been established only in 1992, when the first
Israeli Ambassador to India, Mr. Ephraim Dowek presented his credentials at the
Rashtrapati Bhawan (Presidential Residence) thereby beginning a new chapter in
the history of India-Israel relations. Ephraim
Dowek finished his tenure in India just five days before Rabin's death on
November 4, 1995.
