Wassiamull Assomull, was a Sindhi businessman who who Shri Nathji and had reverence for Him. In 1954 after Christman, Shri Nathji decided to spend the winters in Mumbai. 1954 had been a bad year Mateshwariji’s health, so it was decided to go to Mumbai because earlier in 1951 while she was in Bombay Mateshwari’s health had shown a marked improvement there. This was due to the sea climate there with the near absence of cold weather. The Priya Nathji and Pran Nathji also wished to go to Bombay, too, more than to any other place, having already been to Delhi for two years in succession. Shri Nathji believed that he could find an independent place to stay in Bombay where he would not be overwhelmed by the multitudes, and where Mateshwari could concentrate on improving her health, and eating a regulated diet, free from the sugary sweets, which the devotees forced upon her, and which had now become poison for her system as she was diabitic.
So Shri Nathji wrote to Wassiamull Assomull
at Bombay asking them to arrange for some independent accommodation, even on
rent. He received a reply after some days that a flat was available in Bombay,
which they could offer to Shri Nathji for the winter, free of rent. So Shri Nathji
went with his family and a driver by car to Mumbai and stayed at the accommodation
provided by Wassiamull Assomull for three months. In Mumbai Shri Nathji went to
an address at Malabar Hill where the owner’s relatives lived. They told Shri
Nathji that the flat Shri Wassiamal had arranged would be available from the
next day and that Shri Nathji was welcome to stay the night with them. So Shri
Nathji stayed there that night and next day they went to the flat that was to
be their residence in Bombay for the next three months. The address of the
place was:
Wassiamal Building
4th Floor, D Block
Grant Road
Bombay – 7
Once in the flat, it was discovered that there was no kitchen there! Mateshwari was at a loss as to how to feed Shri Nathji. However, a manager of Wassiamal’s office lived on the same floor, adjacent to Shri Nathji's flat, and he immediately invited Shri Nathji to have lunch with him. and prayed to Shri Nathji to eat with him every day or else accept the food he wished to send to Shri Nathji's flat. And it was thus that Shri Nathji ate the food of this man for two weeks till an improvised kitchen could be made inside Shri Nathji's flat. flat consisted of three rooms and an attached bathroom. The main sitting room had a large replica of a Japanese shrine, apparently brought by Wassiamal during his visits abroad.
It was in this flat that On the 21st of January 1955 Shri Nathji celebrated the birthday of Shri Babaji Maharaj.
