Rialto Theatre

Shri Nathji gave many lectures at Rialto Theatre in the 1930’s. Its owner Shri P C Hari who had great reverence for Shri Nathji, always offered him the use of his cinema hall, Rialto Theatre, for his lectures.Shri Nathji also came to Rialto for watching movies with mateshwariji and his sons.

The last lecture of ShriNathji which was held at Rialto Theatre was on His birthday on 23rd of June 1962. Shri Nathji gave a powerful lecture at the Rialto on this occasion and Priya Nath made an attempt to film the occasion with his 8 mm camera, which had till that time been used in juvenile pursuits, forgetting the injunction of the man who sold the camera, and who had asked the boys to use it only for capturing Shri Nathji's image.
Shri Nathji's Divine Light flowed as brilliantly as ever on this 23rd of June–when he became exactly 60 years old. Anyone who looked at him would have said that he was not more than 30 years of age.

Shri P C Hari established the well-known   Rialto cinema on the Mall Road in 1929 along with Hamer’s which was a Chemist and Departmental Store, He owned and operated both these establishments. Shri  Nathji was also a regular customer at Hamer’s. In the photo one can see Hamer and Rialto sign boards.

The iconic landmark of Mussoorie – Rialto was located at the start of the Mall Road. At the entrance to the Rialto was the famous eatery, Kwalitys .  Rialto was kept in operation till December 2002 by Shri P C Hari’s grandson -  Vikas Hari. It was then closed and Now the Rialto Theatre serves as a parking lot. (photo given here) The family still manages the Hamer store.
