The Benaras Saga



Shri Nathji Came to Benares in 1937 and blessed three important personalities which shaped the future of India. They were Madan Mohan Malviya, Dr, S Radhakrishnan and Mahatma Gandhi. Madan Mohan Malviya was an educationist, and freedom fighter. Malviya Ji became the president of the Indian National Congress in 1909, 1918, 1930 and 1932. He was founder of the largest residential university in Asia Banaras Hindu University in 1916. He remained a member of the Imperial Legislative Council from 1912 - 1926. He also represented India at the First Round Table Conference in 1930.
Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan was an Indian philosopher and statesman who was the President of India from 1962 to 1967. He was the first Vice President of India from 1952 to 1962. He was a professor at University of Mysore from 1918 t 1921, University of Calcutta from 1921 to 1931) and at Oxford University from 1936 to 1952. He was the Vice-Chancellor of Andhra University from 1931 to 1936 and Banaras Hindu University from 1939 to 1948. He represent India atat UNESCO from 1946 to 52 and was later Ambassador of India to the Soviet Union, from 1949 to 1952. He was knighted in 1931. He received numerous awards including Bharat Ratna (1954) and the Order of Merit (1963).
Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi. is known in India as the Father of the Nation. He is among the most well known personalities of the world. He is the preeminent leader of Indian nationalism and inspired movements for non-violence, civil rights and freedom across the world.
When Shri Nathji was in Dehradun, he came to see Pt. Madan Mohan Malviya at a nursing home where he lay sick. Shri Nathji had great love for him and he was also overjoyed to see Shri Nathji. His meeting with Shri Nathji is mentioned in the Mahagranth - God Incarnate on page 349 – 350 where we can read the details. After the meeting Madan Mohan Malviya touched Shri Nathji’s feet and invited him to come to Banras Hindu University. Thus Shri Nathji came to Banaras at Malviyaji’s invitation. Here he gave his blessings to Dr, S Radhakrishnan who was then the Vice Chancellor of the university. He is said to have immediately left a meeting he was conduction and came for Shri Nathji’s darshan. He took Shri Nathji to Mahatma Gandi who was there during those days. This historical meeting is mentioned in the Mahagranth - God Incarnate on page 350. where we can read the details. A hidden code was touched in Mahatma Gandi’s soul, but Shri Nathji did not reveal his real self to him. Albeit Shri Nathji gave him a copy of a gramophone recording that contained His voice delivering his famous Shanti Sandesh, which was recorded in Calcutta.
