Idandas & Co,

In January 1978, one of the first things that Priya Nath did at Delhi, after his marriage in Mussoorie was to buy a small portable Philips tape recorder from a shop, Idandas & Co, at Scindia House Connaught Place. Since the tape recorder developed a fault, Priya Nath immediately purchased a spare one to keep with himself. Those were the days when Shri Nathji's divine revelations were at their peak and Priya Nath had to preserve the sacred words at all costs. He took these two tape recorders with him wherever he went with Shri Nathji and they preserved many a beautiful moment. Shri Nathji and Priya Nathji visited this shop many times. It was also a shop where Shri Nathji had purchased a telescope for Priya Nath in 1970. The proprietor, a Sindhi gentleman, Shri Khub Chand Israney, had formed a great attachment to Shri Nathji and would light up with joy every time Shri Nathji entered his shop. He was not even aware of the spiritual calling of Shri Nathji for many years–and when he did find out, he was in a state of great happiness.

Shri Nathji purchased “Saraswati” brand Exercise Books, or Notebooks, as they were called, which had an exceptionally smooth and glossy paper, from Idandas & Co., which appeared to be the only shop which kept these books in stock. Shri Nathji continued purchasing these books from Idandas & Co., right up to the last moments of his life.
Most of the time he would send someone to the shop to get the books, but, if at all he needed an excuse to visit Connaught Place, it would be for the Notebooks, and he would make it a point to visit Idandas. Shri Nathji's home filled up with the Notebooks from Idandas, and strangely enough, immediately after the passing away of Shri Nathji such Notebooks ceased to be manufactured and Idandas no longer kept them.
“It appears that it was only for Shri Nathji that these books were being manufactured,” said Shri Khub Chand Israney, the proprietor of Idandas & Co in later years.
